Invisalign® Clear Aligners in Grayson, GA — Straighter Teeth Without the Braces
We are proud to offer Invisalign® Clear Aligners. Straighter teeth in as little as six months. If you want straighter teeth but have no interest in metal brackets and wires, Invisalign® clear aligners may be the right fit. At Heritage Family Dentistry in Grayson, GA, Dr. Erin Pickwick, DMD, offers Invisalign® treatment as a discreet, removable alternative to traditional braces. You wear clear plastic trays that shift your teeth gradually into alignment. And when you are done eating, brushing, or heading into an important meeting, you can take them out.
What Are Invisalign® Clear Aligners?
Invisalign® is a system of custom-made, clear plastic trays worn over your teeth. Each tray applies controlled pressure to shift your teeth a fraction of a millimeter at a time. You progress through a series of trays in sequence, each one moving your teeth slightly closer to their final position.
The trays are made from SmartTrack® material, a patented thermoplastic developed by Align Technology for the Invisalign® system. SmartTrack® is engineered to apply consistent, gentle force while fitting closely to the tooth surface, giving the dentist precise control over each tooth movement.
What Issues Can Invisalign® Treat?
Invisalign® is effective for a wide range of alignment problems, including:
- Crowded teeth
- Gapped teeth
- Mild to moderate overbite, underbite, and crossbite
- Open bite
- Crooked or rotated teeth
For complex bite issues involving significant skeletal discrepancies, traditional orthodontics may be clinically better suited. Dr. Pickwick evaluates your bite and tooth positions at your consultation and will tell you directly whether Invisalign® is the right option for your situation.
How the Invisalign® Process Works, Step by Step
Consultation and clinical records. Your first appointment is an evaluation. Dr. Pickwick examines your teeth, bite, and jaw relationship, reviews your health history, and takes clinical records to assess your candidacy. If Invisalign® is appropriate, digital scans are taken to map your tooth positions in three dimensions.
ClinCheck® digital treatment plan. Your records are submitted to Align Technology's software, which generates a digital simulation of your tooth movements from start to finish. Dr. Pickwick reviews this plan in detail, makes any clinical adjustments needed, and finalizes it before your aligners go into production. Before your first tray is ever fabricated, you can see a projection of where your teeth will be at the end of treatment.
Aligner fabrication. Your full set of custom aligners is manufactured based on the approved treatment plan. Depending on your case, you may receive your full series at once or in batches.
Wearing your aligners. You wear each tray for 20 to 22 hours per day. You remove them to eat, drink anything other than plain water, brush, and floss. Compliance with wear time is the single most important factor in whether treatment stays on schedule.
Progress appointments. You return to Heritage Family Dentistry every six to eight weeks so Dr. Pickwick can confirm your teeth are tracking as planned. These are brief check-ins. There is nothing to tighten or adjust.
Refinements and retainers. At the end of your aligner series, minor finishing movements may remain. Refinement aligners address these last adjustments.
Once your teeth are in position, you will wear a retainer to hold them there. Teeth will shift back without one.
Most adults finish Invisalign® treatment in 12 to 18 months. Mild cases can wrap up in as few as six months. Dr. Pickwick will give you a realistic timeline at your consultation based on the specific movements your case needs.
The Benefits of Invisalign® Clear Aligners
Invisalign® is a clinically sound orthodontic system with practical advantages that traditional fixed braces do not have. Patients who have completed treatment consistently point to the same things as most valuable.
You Can Go Through Treatment Without Anyone Noticing
The trays are clear and form-fitted to your teeth. Most people around you will not notice you are wearing them. For working adults, professionals, and older teens who would feel self-conscious in metal hardware, this matters a great deal.
You Eat What You Want
>With traditional braces, you avoid hard, sticky, and chewy foods to protect the brackets and wires. With Invisalign®, you remove the trays before meals. There are no dietary restrictions at all. You eat normally, clean your teeth, and put the trays back in.
Oral Hygiene Stays Simple
Brushing and flossing around fixed brackets and wires is difficult and time-consuming. Because Invisalign® trays come out, your hygiene routine does not change. Brush and floss as you normally would, clean the trays separately, and reinsert them. Patients who struggle to maintain hygiene during traditional braces treatment often find this a real advantage.
Fewer, Faster Office Visits
Invisalign® progress checks are shorter than traditional braces adjustments, and you come in every six to eight weeks rather than monthly. For working adults and busy families in Gwinnett County, that is meaningful time saved over the course of a 12-month treatment.
Less Discomfort Between Appointments
Metal brackets have edges that press against the soft tissue of your cheeks and lips, especially in the days after an adjustment. Invisalign® trays are smooth. New trays can create pressure as they begin moving teeth, but most patients find it mild and short-lived compared to the soreness after wire tightening.
Why Choose Heritage Family Dentistry for Invisalign® in Grayson, GA
Where you get your Invisalign® treatment affects your outcome. The dentist overseeing your case is responsible for the accuracy of your digital treatment plan, the fit of each aligner, and catching tracking problems early if teeth are not moving as projected. These decisions require clinical experience, attention to detail, and a relationship with the patient that stretches across many months.

A Practice with 40+ Years of Community Roots
