Picture your family's calendar a year from now. Two checkups each, no emergency calls, no guessing about what a procedure will cost. That is the version of dental care Heritage Family Dentistry builds for Dacula families, and it starts with one comprehensive exam at our office on Grayson Highway, a straight drive down Dacula Road and through Lawrenceville.

Dacula has grown faster than almost any community in Gwinnett County. New subdivisions keep filling in around Hamilton Mill and Mulberry, and many arriving families have no dentist they trust yet. Dr. Erin Pickwick has treated Gwinnett patients since 2010, and her practice has served the county for more than 40 years.

What Changes After Six Months of Consistent Care

Patients who commit to two cleanings a year notice the same pattern. Gums stop bleeding when you floss. Coffee stains fade under professional polishing. Small cavities get caught at the size of a pinhead instead of the size of a crown. Your kids stop dreading appointments because nothing painful happens at them.

The long-term payoff is financial as much as physical. A filling caught early costs a fraction of a root canal, and a cleaning costs a fraction of a filling. Families balancing mortgages in new Dacula subdivisions feel that difference. Preventive visits also protect the work you have already paid for, since crowns, implants, and veneers last longer in a clean, healthy mouth.

Teenagers see outcomes too. A teen who finishes Invisalign before senior photos carries that confidence into every interview and team tryout afterward. Parents tell us the bigger win is quieter: kids who grew up with calm, painless checkups become adults who never develop dental fear in the first place.

Visiting from Dacula

From Dacula, take Dacula Road south into Lawrenceville, then follow Grayson Highway (Highway 20) southeast toward Grayson. The office sits at 2023 Grayson Hwy, Suite 203, on the Lawrenceville side of downtown Grayson, so coming from your direction you arrive before town. Families from Hamilton Mill can also drop south and pick up Highway 20 in Lawrenceville the same way.  Call (678) 336-1983 to schedule your first exam, and our front desk will talk you through the turn-in if your map app gets creative.

What Happens at Your Visits

Your first appointment includes digital X-rays, a gum health screening, an oral cancer check, and unhurried time with Dr. Pickwick to talk through what she sees. You leave with a written plan and clear pricing before any treatment begins.

Routine visits after that stay short and predictable. A hygienist cleans and polishes your teeth, the doctor examines anything that has changed, and you book your next visit on the way out. If you need restorative work, we explain your options, what insurance covers, and what you pay, then schedule treatment at your pace. Nobody pressures you into same-day decisions.

Payment stays predictable too. We accept all PPO plans, file claims for you, and offer a $159 comprehensive exam with X-rays for uninsured patients, plus a membership plan and monthly financing for larger treatment.

The Dentistry Behind the Results

Heritage Family Dentistry runs as a full-service general practice. Preventive care includes cleanings, periodontal (gum) therapy, sealants, and fluoride for kids. Restorative care covers tooth-colored fillings, crowns, bridges, and dental implants, which replace missing teeth with a titanium post topped by a natural-looking porcelain crown. Cosmetic options include professional whitening, veneers, and Invisalign clear aligners that straighten teeth without metal brackets.

Dr. Pickwick completed her dental degree at the Medical College of Georgia and a postgraduate residency through the University of Alabama. She formerly served as president of the Georgia Academy of General Dentistry. The office pairs that training with modern diagnostic imaging, so treatment plans rest on what the scans actually show rather than guesswork.

Is This the Right Practice for Your Family?

We fit households that want one office for every age, from a kindergartner's first checkup to a grandparent's implant consultation. Anxious patients do well here, since we offer sedation options and run a strict no-judgment policy.

We stay honest about limits too. Patients who need conventional bracket-and-wire orthodontics, or hospital-based oral surgery, get a referral to the right specialist. If you want the cheapest possible cleaning from a rotating cast of corporate providers, a privately owned practice is probably not your match.

Meet Your Dacula Dentist

Dr. Erin Pickwick understands the family-calendar math that runs Dacula households because she lives it. She and her husband Ralph are raising two sons, Owen and Ethan, and the family spends free time traveling, cooking, and getting outdoors. Professionally, she has treated Gwinnett families since finishing her residency in 2010, and she leads the practice her mother founded more than 40 years ago. That combination shapes how the office runs: appointments that respect school schedules, plain-language explanations a busy parent can act on, and a doctor who plans your kids' care the way she plans her own family's.

Dacula Patient Questions

Can we schedule around school mornings in the Hamilton Mill area?

A: Yes. Wednesday hours start at 7:00 AM, which lets parents finish drop-off near Hamilton Mill and still reach our Grayson Highway office before work. Friday morning slots also suit teens with light class schedules. Call ahead, because early appointments fill first.

My employer plan is a PPO through a company off Highway 316. Are you in-network?

A: We accept all PPO plans and hold in-network status with Aetna PPO, Cigna PPO, and United Concordia PPO. Our front desk will run a complimentary benefits check before your first visit, so you know your coverage before you sit in the chair.

We just moved into a new build near Mulberry Park. How do we transfer our dental records?

A: Sign a release form with us and we request the records from your previous office directly. Most transfers arrive electronically within days. Bring any recent X-rays you have on hand and we may avoid retaking them.

Half our street in Dacula has kids under five. When should a first dental visit happen?

A: The American Dental Association recommends a first visit within six months of the first tooth appearing, and no later than the first birthday. Early visits stay short and friendly, and they let us catch habits and development issues while they remain easy to correct.

New dental offices keep opening closer to Highway 316. Why do Dacula families drive to you instead?

A: Continuity, mostly. The same family has run this practice since 1982, treatment recommendations come without sales quotas, and your records stay with one doctor instead of a rotating roster. Plenty of patients pass three closer offices to keep that arrangement.
